On
7 November, at the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), CHI delivered a
speech on ‘Shipboard Carbon Capture System Helps Decarbonise the Global
Shipping Industry’ at COSCO Group's Theme Salon, and demonstrated the Shipboard
Carbon Capture System independently researched and developed by CHI's
subsidiary, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry Technology (Weihai), as in short, CHIT. The
‘Sea Shield’ Shipboard Carbon Capture System covers two core technologies:
super gravity and spray tower. The technology route can be customised according
to customers' needs, forming a shipboard carbon capture system, which provides carbon
capture on board ships. Compared with the same treatment capacity, the energy
consumption is reduced by more than 40%, and the height, weight and volume of
the equipment are also greatly reduced. The Shipboard Carbon Capture System,
which is capable of capturing and storing carbon emissions without affecting
the ship operation , significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In
addition, CHI also sent a professional exhibition-viewing delegation to
interact with exhibitors, industry experts and international customers, in
order to promote global green shipping cooperation. As an important platform for international exchanges, CIIE
provides a valuable opportunity for CHI to showcase its cutting-edge
technologies and innovations and to expand international market. In the future,
CHI will continue to uphold the concept of green development, promote ship
technology innovation, and contribute more ‘Chinese wisdom’ to the goal of
carbon neutrality in the global shipping industry.
