The 8,000 TEU container ship Changcheng (Evergreen Marine) departed
CHI(Zhoushan) on November 2 after a 31-day comprehensive repair and upgrade,
finishing four days earlier than the planned 35-day schedule.Measuring 334.8
meters long and 45.8 meters wide, the 13-year-old vessel underwent structural
reinforcement of all cargo holds, crack repairs in three oil tanks, and main
engine bearing replacements. These complex tasks required strict safety and
precision standards. For the critical cargo hold reinforcement, workers prefabricated 604
uniquely numbered crescent-shaped components in advance. All 69 cargo hold
covers were reinforced within 15 days and passed acceptance checks. The
early completion demonstrates CHI(Zhoushan)'s project execution capabilities
for complex structural repairs and strengthens its partnership with Evergreen
Marine, paving the way for future similar projects.
